OREM, Utah – Utah Valley State makes a little history Thursday when it hosts North Idaho College in its first-ever wrestling competition. Matches will be held in the Activity Center on the campus of Utah Valley State beginning at 7:00 p.m.
UVSC announced it was adding a wrestling program in September of last year at the same time it announced it was making the move to NCAA Division I. By adding wrestling, UVSC became the first NCAA program in over 30 years to do so. And at the same time filled a void left in the state of Utah when BYU ended its wrestling program.
UVSC coach Cody Sanderson said North Idaho should be a very tough opponent and wrestling fans should have an enjoyable evening.
Sanderson singled out Erkin Tadzhmentov in the 144 lb class as one of the many UVSC grapplers fans should keep an eye on.
