OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley State women's basketball team fell to 1-8 on the season Saturday evening against a hot-shooting Boise State team, 90-63.
Kaydee Allred continued her excellent play. For the second consecutive game Allred established a new career high in points, scoring 27 against Boise. Allred shot 8-14 from the floor and had a game-high 11 rebounds. Miriam Palkki chipped in 14 for the Wolverines.
"Kaydee had a great game," said Utah Valley State coach Cathy Nixon. "She clicked in all ways, offensively and defensively. She was a real bright spot."
Cassidy Blaine scored 21 for Boise State on 7-10 shooting, while Tasha Harris had 20 points, going 6-9 from the floor. The Broncos built an early eight-point lead, but Utah Valley State kept within striking distance throughout the first half. Allred scored 15 of her 27 in the first half on 6-9 shooting. But it was Harris and Blaine paced Boise, combining to shoot 7-10 from the three-point line.
"Boise's a good team. They've got a good mix of kids, both inside and out. But not taking care of the basketball really hurt us," said Nixon.
Boise finished 15-26 from three-point land, nearly 58%. They shot 52.5% overall for the game, while Utah Valley only managed 40.8% from the field for the game.
Next up, the Wolverines have a rematch at Southern Utah this coming Monday night at 5:15pm. On December 4, the T-Birds came into the McKay Center and won 78-69.
"SUU's similar to Boise. They present a very similar challenge," said Nixon.
Following the game at Southern Utah, the Wolverines will have the week off to prepare for a trip to Portland where they will take on Portland State on December 28th, and the University of Portland on December 30th.
