Portland, Oregon - Kaydee Allred had another big game for Utah Valley State, but it was not enough as the Wolverines fell at Portland State, 75-66.

Allred scored 25 for the Wolverines, shooting 8-13 from the floor and 9-9 from the free throw line. She has now reached the 20 point plateau in three of the last four games.

Miriam Palkki scored 13 for Utah Valley, 11 of those points came in the 2nd half.

The loss puts Utah Valley State at 1-10 on the season, while Portland State improved to 2-8.

Heather Arns led Portland State with 19 points, while Heidi Stuart chipped in 15.

The Wolverines stayed within striking distance, but could never quite get close enough in the 2nd half.

Portland State led by 10 when an acrobatic lay-up and a free-throw by Sharon Wahinekapu gave the Vikings a lead of 13 early in the second half. A 6-0 Wolverine run aided by two Katie Wilson buckets cut the lead to seven.

The teams then traded buckets for the next several minutes before the Vikings extended the lead back to 13 at 58-45 with 8:22 left.

Utah Valley State trailed 62-49 before a 10-2 run cut the Vikings lead to just five under two minutes to go, but the Wolverines could get no closer.

The game was tight throughout most of the first half, as the Wolverines were led by Allred’s 15 points.

After falling behind by six, 24-18, Allred scored five straight points to cut the lead to one. Portland State led by five when a Heather Arns three-pointer extended the lead to eight, 35-27, where the first half concluded.

Heidi Stuart led Portland State with 12 at the half, nearly four points above her season average.

The Wolverines will remain in the City of Roses for one more game on Thursday against the University of Portland. Game time is 6:15 MST.
