MISSOULA, Montana -Â Senior southpaw outside hitter, Deise Borghetti notched a match-high 16 kills as the Utah Valley State volleyball team spoiled the University of Montana's home opener with a three game sweep of the Grizzlies, 30-27, 30-28, 30-28, at Auxiliary Gym Tuesday night.
Borghetti hit .333 on the night, only making 3 attack errors in 39 total attempts.
"Deise played great for us,"Â said head coach Sam Atoa. "She not only hit well, but she had two key blocks in a row, that helped us close out game three."
UVSC setter Lacee Koelliker distributed the ball well helping the Wolverine offense to a respectable .288 team hitting percentage. Koelliker ended the night with a match-high 40 assists, and dumped in four kills herself. Freshman Jessica Endres also had a solid night hitting at a .467 clip with nine kills and Alina Wallauer added eight kills and a match-high 11 digs.
"It was a good win for us, and I don't think we played as good as we can,"Â said head coach Sam Atoa. "It is always good to get a win on someone else's home court."
For the Grizzlies, Claudia Houle led the offense with 10 kills, and Audrey Jensen tallied seven and hit .368.
With the win, the Wolverines improve to 1-1 on the year, while the Grizzlies fall to 0-4.Â
UVSC will travel home and prepare for its home opener against the University of Central Florida on Friday, September 10th. The first serve is schedule for 7:00 pm (MST) in the Activity Center.
