Utah Valley State will travel to Greeley, Colorado to compete in the Division I Independent Championships November 10-12 at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion on the campus of Northern Colorado.
The eight teams competing will be IPFW, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Providence, South Dakota State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Pan American, and Utah Valley State.
Wolverine Update:
Utah Valley State (13-11) went 2-0 last week with wins over fellow Independents North and South Dakota State. The Wolverines take good momentum going into the tournament, having won five out of their last six matches.
UV took three out of the four Division I Independent weekly awards because of their performance against the Dakota schools. Maegan Hoyt was named "Defensive Player of the Week," Lacee Koelliker was named "Setter of the Week," and Camie Manwill was named "Newcomer of the Week."
UV has three players who average over three kills per game, in Jessica Endres (3.26), Anne Olsen (3.25) and Camie Manwill (3.22). Endres leads the Wolverines with 313 kills (Olsen has 312), and hits a team-high .333.
Scouting the Opposition:
NDSU: The Bison come into the tournament with a 2-29 overall record, and are 1-2 in the overall series with UV. Senior Kim Hebl leads NDSU offensively, averaging 2.82 kills per game. The Wolverines swept the Bison last weekend in Orem.
SDSU: The Jacks are 13-15 on the season, and 2-2 in the overall series with UV. Southpaw Kristina Martin and Minette Ridenour are solid on the front row averaging 3.77 and 3.65 kills per game, respectively. UV defeated the Jacks in four games last weekend in Orem.
Providence: The Friars are 6-24 overall and meet the Wolverines for the first time this weekend. Allison Baker leads Providence in kills, averaging 3.31 kills per game. The Friars compete in the Big East conference in every sport accept women's volleyball.
TAMUCC: The Islanders are 12-12 overall and 1-4 in the series with the Wolverines. TAMUCC snuck past UV in five games on October 28th in Corpus Christi. Anna Machado leads the way for the Islanders averaging 3.66 kills per game.
UTPA: The Lady Broncs come into the tournament at 10-14 this season, and 0-5 in the overall series against Utah Valley State. Freshman Kellie Phillips, who was named Division I Independent "Offensive Player of the Week" last week, averages 3.10 kills per game. UV lost to UTPA in five games on October 28th.
IPFW: The Mastodons come into the tournament as the hottest team at 20-5 and lead the overall series with UV 2-0. IPFW has won nine out of its last twelve matches, and boast a major offensive threat in Fabiana Souza. She averages an impressive 4.82 kills, 2.95 digs, and 0.91 blocks per game.
UNC: The Bears are 12-11 overall, and 7-1 against the Wolverines over the past three seasons. UNC will put its 33-match home-court winning streak on the line during the tournament. Amanda Wiggins leads the Bears offensively, averaging 3.69 kills per game. UV snapped a seven game losing streak to the Bears on October 21st in Orem.

New Career Highs & School Records ...
~ Camie Manwill hit a career-high .571, with 17 kills and only error against North Dakota State (11-3-05).
~ Transfer Brooke Adams tied a career-high with 18 kills against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (10-29-05).
~ Middle blocker Stephanie McFarland hit a career-high .615 against Westminster College (10-25-05).
~ Lacee Koelliker tied her own school record of 65 assists in a match for the third time this season against Northern Colorado (10-21-05), South Dakota State (10-1-05), and against Weber State (9-27-05). She set the record earlier this season against Idaho State (9-16-05).
~ The Wolverines recorded a team school record of 83 kills against South Dakota State (10-1-05).
~ Maegan Hoyt notched 31 digs against South Dakota State (10-1-05), just two shy of her own single match school record of 33.
~ Jessica Endres hit a career-high and set a school record (20-29 attempts) by hitting .773 against North Dakota State (9-30-05).

~ The Wolverines notched a team school record with 103 digs against Idaho State (9-16-05).
~ Anne Olsen recorded a career-high 24 kills against Idaho State
(9-16-05). She also hit a career best .381 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi the next day (9-17-05). Her 19 digs against Idaho State (9-16-05) was also a career milestone.
~ Jessica Endres recorded a career-high 21 kills against Idaho State (9-16-05), and her .378 hitting percentage was a Wolverine school record in a match (40-49 attempts).
~ Redshirt freshman Carlyn Cadmus set career-highs with 8 kills, and a .294 hitting percentage against Idaho State (9-16-05).
~ Freshman Bethany Carron recorded a career-high 16 digs against Idaho State (9-16-05).

Wolverines Take Three Out of Four Weekly Honors:
The Utah Valley State volleyball team took three out of the four Division I Independent weekly awards for their performance the week of October 31st-November 6th. Maegan Hoyt was named "Defensive Player of the Week," Koelliker was named "Setter of the Week," and Manwill was named "Newcomer of the Week." Hoyt, Koelliker, and Manwill helped lead the Wolverines to a 2-0 record over fellow Independents North and South Dakota State last week. It was the fourth time this season that Koelliker has been honored, and the second time for Hoyt. Manwill, a true freshman out of Paradise, California was honored for the first time. In two matches, Hoyt finished with 34 digs, averaging 4.86 digs per game. Against NDSU she had 10 digs, and on "Senior Night" she put up 24 digs to go out with a bang in her final home match.Koelliker had 94 assists (47 assists per match), averaging 13.43 assists per game. She also had 12 kills and hit .387 on the week. In a three game sweep of NDSU she recorded 38 assists and against NDSU she put up 56 assists. Manwill finished with 35 kills, averaging an impressive 5.00 kills per game, while hitting .408. She also recorded 23 digs (3.29 d/g), averaging a double-double in two matches. Against NDSU she had 17 kills with only one error, and hit a career-high .571. In the SDSU match she tallied a match-high 18 kills to go along with 15 digs, to record her sixth double-double of the year.
Adams Named "Newcomer of the Week":
Brooke Adams was named Division-I Independent Volleyball "Newcomer of the Week" after her performance the week of October 24-30th. Adams helped lead Utah Valley State to a 2-1 finish with 37 kills, averaging 2.85 kills per game and hit .236. She had 18 kills against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and hit .256. She also recorded 9 blocks on the week. For the season to this point, Adams has notched 161 kills, averaging 2.12 kills per game, and is hitting .252.
Koelliker Named "Setter of the Week":
Junior setter Lacee Koelliker has been named Division-I Independent Volleyball "Setter of the Week" for her performance the week of October 17th-23rd. It was the third time this season that Koelliker received "Setter of the Week" honors. Koelliker led Utah Valley State to a 1-1 finish during the week, with a loss to #15 BYU and a win over fellow Division I Independent Northern Colorado. Koelliker recorded 95 assists in two matches (11.88 a/g). She also had 9 kills and hit a timely .346. Against UNC she tied her own school record (for the third time this season) with 65 assists and helped four Wolverines to double-digit kills. As a team the Wolverines hit .218 in the five game match. Against #15 BYU she had 30 assists and 4 service aces.
Endres and Koelliker Receive Weekly Honors:
Jessica Endres and Lacee Koelliker were honored for their performances the week of September 26th-October 2nd. Endres was named Division I Independent Volleyball "Offensive Player of the Week," and Koelliker was named Division I Independent Volleyball "Setter of the Week." Endres and Koelliker helped the Wolverines to a 2-1 overall week, notching wins over in-state rival Weber State, and fellow Independent North Dakota State, before losing a tough decision to South Dakota State in five games. Endres blasted 51 kills in the three matches (17 kills per match), averaging 4.25 kills per game, and hit an outstanding .462 in 12 games played. She only had 9 errors on 91 total attempts. She also had eight total blocks, averaging 0.67 blocks per game. Against WSU she tallied 19 kills and hit .586. In a three game sweep of NDSU she racked up 18 kills and hit a school record .773. Koelliker put up 177 assists, averaging 14.75 assists per game. She tied her own school record of 65 assists in a match twice during the week. First against in-state rival Weber State, and then she tallied the same mark of 65 against SDSU. She also dumped the ball in a timely fashion recording 14 kills with a .371 hitting percentage. She was effective on the serving end with 6 service aces.
Hoyt and Koelliker Receive Weekly Honors:
Maegan Hoyt and Lacee Koelliker were honored for their performances against Kansas and Montana State the week of August 29th - September 4th. Hoyt was named Division I Independent Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, and Koelliker was named Division I Independent Volleyball Setter of the Week.Hoyt started where she left off last season solidifying the back row for Utah Valley State. In two matches against Big 12 power Kansas and Big Sky foe Montana State she notched 42 total digs, averaging an impressive 5.25 digs per game, and 21 digs per match. Against KU she had 13 digs, and against MSU she finished with 29 digs. Hoyt's dig total of 29 in the MSU match ranks second in Utah Valley State history for a single match. She was just four digs shy of her own record of 33 set against Northern Colorado last season. Koelliker continued to be solid for the Wolverines after having been a big part of the offense for the past two seasons. Against Big 12 power Kansas and Big Sky foe Montana State Koelliker notched 79 total assists, averaging 9.88 digs per game and just under 40 assists per match. She also kept the defense off balance with 13 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
