Wolverines Drop Final Game of Wolf Pack Tourney

RENO, Nevada - The Utah Valley State softball team lost its final game of the Wolf Pack Tourney to Nevada on Sunday 14-6.

Rachel Hartgrove had three hits including her team-best sixth homerun. Emily Cardenas also added two hits in the game.

The Wolverines led 5-0 after a five-run second inning. Cardenas led off the inning with a single. She would later score after Kelli Wilkins was walked with the bases loaded. Three batters later Hartgrove singled home Roskelley to up the Wolverine lead to 2-0. Wilkins, Amanda Kendzior and Chris Jimenez all scored runs later in the inning.

But things fell apart for Utah Valley in the third inning when Nevada countered with a seven-run third inning. They then added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth to earn the win.

Utah Valley State is back in action on Wednesday when they host Utah in a 2 p.m. doubleheader. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
