Wolverine Update:
Utah Valley State has lost two straight matches, both to in-state nationally ranked opponents.
Most recently, the Wolverines were swept at the hands of #12 Utah on Tuesday in Salt Lake City. After falling big in game one, UV fought in games two and three but came up short.
On October 3rd in front of 1,501 fans in the Shurian Family Activity Center, the Wolverines gave #19 BYU all it could handle before losing in three games. The combined margin of victory in the three games was just eight points, with two of the games decided by two points.
Scouting the Opposition:
South Dakota State: The Jacks (15-7) are led offensively by Kristina Martin and Minette Ridenour, who average 3.57 and 3.47 kills per game, respectively.
Utah Valley is 4-2 all-time against South Dakota State. The Wolverines hold a three-match winning streak including two wins at last season's D-I Independent tournament.
North Dakota State: The Bison have won six straight matches after their defeat of IPFW last Saturday.
Sheila Parrish leads NDSU with a 4.42 kills per game average. Lindsay Rogers and Christy Stuewe lead the Bison defensively. Stuewe averages 1.41 blocks per game and has 20 block solos on the season while Rogers holds a 1.30 bpg average.
UV holds a three-match winning streak against North Dakota State was well after going 3-0 in 2005 against the Bison.
Up Next:
The Wolverines will have next week off before facing South Dakota State and North Dakota State again, this time in Orem on October 26th and 28th.
It will start a final stretch of four straight home matches to close out the regular season before UV will try to defend its D-I Independent Championship in Fargo, North Dakota on November 10-11.
