Wolverines Play at SUU

Cedar City, UT- The Utah Valley State men's basketball team plays its second Mid-Continent Conference team in as many games when they play at in-state foe Southern Utah on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1400 KSTAR. This is the first ever meeting between the two schools.

SUU is 4-2 and coming off a 73-63 victory over Denver on Monday. The T-Birds opened the season by beating Utah in Salt Lake City 76-73.

Steve Barnes leads the Thunderbirds in scoring at 14.2 points-per-game. Nurudeen Adepoju is second in scoring at 11.3 while Justin Allen is scoring 10.8 points.

As a team Southern Utah is shooting 47 percent from the 3-point line with five players shooting over 50 percent from beyond the arc.

"SUU is playing some of the best basketball in the Rocky Mountains," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "They are one of the outstanding 3-point shooting teams in the country. Coach (Bill) Evans teams always play great defense and keep you off balance with zone traps and man-to-man defense."

Utah Valley is 4-1 and coming off a 77-75 road victory over Western Illinois on Saturday. The victory was the second road win over a Division I team in a conference. The first was the 75-71 win over Arizona State last year.

Ryan Toolson leads the Wolverines in scoring at 14 points a game while Jordan Brady is scoring 10.6 and David Heck is third at 10.2 points. Heck leads the Wolverines in rebounding at 5.8 while Brady is averaging 5.6 boards a game.

Utah Valley returns to action on Saturday when they play at Big Sky foe Portland State at 8 p.m. The Wolverines next home game is on December 9 when they host Utah State in the McKay Center.
