Utah Valley State will be in Fargo, North Dakota this weekend for the Division-I Independent Championship on Friday and Saturday. The Wolverines will be attempting to defend their 2005 championship.
Utah Valley will begin play at 3pm Mountain Time against Providence, a team they are 1-0 against all-time. UV swept the Friars at last year's D-I Independent Championship in Greeley, Colorado.
The Wolverines' second match on Friday will be against South Dakota State at 7pm MT. The two squads are very familiar with one another, having played, and split, two matches this season. All-time, the Wolverines are 5-3 against the Jacks.
SDSU will be looking to get revenge after Utah Valley defeated the Jacks twice during the 2005 tournament, including the championship match.
The top teams in each pool will play in the championship, scheduled for 7pm MT on Saturday evening.
The second place teams will play the third place game at 4pm MT and the third place teams will play at 1pm MT on Saturday for 5th place.

2005 Tournament Recap:
In the 2005 tournament, the Wolverines defeated North Dakota State in a five-game barn burner before sweeping South Dakota State, Providence and Northern Colorado to make their way to the finals. The championship was a rematch against South Dakota State, with the Wolverines winning in four. Camie Manwill had 22 kills and Lacee Koelliker had 59 assists and was named the tournament MVP.
D-I Independent Stats Rankings:
Junior Jessica Endres continues to lead all Independent players in hitting percentage, with a .345 average. She is also sixth in kills per game with a 3.59 average.
Camie Manwill is second in kills per game, averaging 4.22 and is also eighth in digs with a 3.90 dpg average.
Lacee Koelliker's 11.69 assists per game is currently 3rd among Independents. She is also 4th in hitting percentage with a .310 average. Both Koelliker and Manwill rank in the top 10 in service aces per game while Chelsea Baugh ranks 5th in digs at 4.35 per game.
