Wolverines Travel to Montana State

Dec. 15, 2006

Orem, UT- After a week of studying for finals, the Utah Valley State men's basketball team returns to the court for a road game at Montana State (2-8) on Saturday. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be heard live on 1400 KSTAR.

This is the third meeting between the two schools. The Wolverines hold a 2-1 series lead with the latest game being a 69-37 season opening victory in Orem on November 10.

"It is always unpredictable coming off finals week," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "Montana State is a much improved team. I'm sure they have long memories of the opening night game in Orem. They are getting back to full strength."

Montana State is led by the play of Nick Dissly's 12.4 points a game. Carlos Taylor is scoring 10.4 points an outing. Dissly scored only five points at Orem and Taylor didn't play.

"We caught Dissly on a bad night and we never played against Taylor," Hunsaker said. "Coach Huse is bringing the Bobcats along real well."

Montana State's wins have come against Montana-Western and Idaho. Last Saturday the Bobcats lost at home 82-77 in overtime to Fresno State.

Utah Valley State is 5-4 and coming off a 69-65 home loss to Utah State on Saturday. Richard Troyer came off the bench to score 16 points while David Heck had 15.

Heck and Ryan Toolson lead the Wolverines in scoring at 14.1 points a game. Heck is also grabbing a team best 5.2 rebounds. As a team Utah Valley is shooting 48 percent from the field.

In the first meeting with Montana State, Jordan Brady led the Wolverines with 14 points and seven rebounds. Toolson had 11 points and Chris Bailey added 10.

Following Saturday's game, the Wolverines have little time to rest as they play at Idaho State on Tuesday, December 19, at 7 p.m. Utah Valley returns to the McKay Center on December 22 when they host Southern Utah.
