Wolverines Fall in Season Finale

EDINBURG, Texas - Utah Valley State dropped the final contest of the 2005-06 season at Texas-Pan American, 65-49 on Saturday night. Freshman Robyn Fairbanks led the Wolverines with 15 points and eight rebounds.

After the Wolverines scored first to take a 2-0 lead, the Broncs went on a 10-2 run and led the rest of the way.

Devin Reed scored a career high 24 points for Pan American on 7-for-14 shooting to go along with six rebounds, six assists and three steals in her final collegiate game.

The Wolverines finish the season with an 11-16 record, tying a school record for wins in a season at the NCAA level. They also drop to 4-3 on the season against fellow Division-I Independent teams.

Texas-Pan American earned its first win in three tries all-time against UV, including a 73-67 loss to the Wolverines in Orem on January 17th. The Broncs finish the season with a 7-21 mark.

Saturday's contest was the final game in the careers of outgoing seniors Kaydee Allred, Miriam Palkki and Jessica Scabby.

Fairbanks finishes the season with an average of 17.6 points and 8.5 rebounds while hitting 52.8% from the field as is among the Independent leaders in all three categories. She is a likely candidate for Independent Newcomer of the Year which will be announced on March 15th.
