Wolverine Update:
Utah Valley State went 1-2 in the Sun Devil Classic this past weekend competing against 2005 NCAA Tournament team, Loyola Marymount, Pac-10 foe Arizona State, and Northeastern. The Wolverines took LMU to four games but lost, were beaten by ASU in three, and defeated NU in five games.

Sophomore Camie Manwill had a big weekend and was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance. She finished with 63 kills on the weekend, averaging a healthy 5.25 kills per game. She also averaged 4.75 digs per game and recorded double-doubles in each match. In the NU match she shattered a school record with 103 attack attempts (the previous record was 64) and was two kills shy of a school record with 28 kills.

Chelsea Baugh was tough on the defensive end recording 64 digs, an average of 5.33 digs per game. Against NU she was two digs shy of a school record when she put up 31 (the record of 33 was set by current Student Assistant Coach, Maegan Hoyt).

Scouting the Opposition:
WSU:
The Wolverines have started to become familiar with the Wildcats having played them four times over the last three years. Last season the two teams split winning a match each on their home courts.

WSU comes into Tuesday's match with a 1-3 record having played in the South Dakota State Jackrabbit Kickoff this past weekend. The Wildcats lost their first three matches to Gonzaga (3-2), South Dakota State (3-0), and Washington State (3-0), before coming back to defeat North Dakota State (3-1).

Leah Burmeister and Kolbie Murphey led the offensive charge for the Wildcats in the tournament. Burmeister tallied 59 kills (3.93 k/g), and Murphy recorded 48 kills (3.20 k/g) in the four-match round robin.

Last Time Out:
LMU (8-25-06):
The Utah Valley State volleyball team took Loyola Marymount to four games, but fell in the end 28-30, 30-28, 26-30, 24-30 on the first day of the Sun Devil Classic hosted by Arizona State. The Wolverines were actually up 28-23 in the first game, but the Lions scored seven consecutive points to close out the game and take a 1-0 advantage in the match.UV jumped out to a 15-2 lead in game two, but once again the Lions came storming back to tie the match at 22 all. The Wolverine kept their composure and hung on to win the game 30-28 and tie the match at one game apiece. Games three and four went back-and-forth, but LMU was able to hang in both sets to take the match. Camie Manwill led the way for the Wolverines with 20 kills and 23 digs to notch her first double-double of the season. Jessica Endres finished with 15 kills and hit .297, and Ashley Dallin tallied 12 kills and hit .306.

ASU & NU (8-26-0): The Utah Valley State volleyball team fell to Arizona State in three games 22-30, 13-30, 21-30 in its first match, but came back to beat Northeastern in five games (31-29, 20-30, 30-26, 27-30, 15-10) in the nightcap match to earn a split on the final day of the Sun Devil Classic. Camie Manwill shattered a single match school record with 103 attack attempts (the previous record was 64) and was two kills shy of a school record with 28 against the Huskies. She also recorded her third consecutive double-double in as many matches with 23 digs. Jessia Endres gave Manwill a breather finishing the night with 15 kills and 10 digs for her first double-double. Manwill's performance in the two day tournament earned her a spot on the Sun Devil Classic All-Tournament team. Lacee Koelliker tallied her second consecutive double-double of the season with 39 assist and 14 digs, and Chelsea Baugh was all over the place on the defensive end finishing with 31 digs (two shy of a school record). The Sun Devils, who defeated NU in three games on Friday night, hit .317 as a team and held the Wolverines to a .158 hitting clip to secure the sweep in UV's first match. Manwill recorded a double-double for UV tallying a match-high 15 kills and 11 digs. Endres was the only other Wolverine offensive threat finishing with seven kills. Koelliker recorded a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs.
