SAN JOSE, California - Utah Valley State couldn't get anything going against Cal State Northridge Saturday losing in three games 30-22, 30-26, 30-25 in the Hyatt Invitational.
Camie Manwill had a team-high 13 kills and finished with 12 digs to record her eleventh double-double of the year. She has played in 12 of UV's 13 matches and has notched 11 double-doubles. Ashley Dallin ended up with nine kills and nine digs and Jessica Endres added eight kills. Defensively Chelsea Baugh dug up 17 balls.
In game one CSUN got out to a 7-4 lead early, but the Wolverines would comeback to tie the game at 12. The Matadors would get back in front at 22-18, and would maintain the four point edge at 26-22. A 4-0 CSUN run would close out the game 30-22.
In game two the Matadors would jump out in front 13-4, and looked like they would run away with the set. UV would fight back to within four points at 24-20, forcing a CSUN timeout. After the break the Matadors finished the set on a 10-6 run winning 30-26.
Northridge continued to put the pressure on in game three taking a 5-1 lead. UV tied the set at 8-8, but would allow CSUN to pull back ahead 17-10 with a 9-2 run. CSUN held off UV by seven points later at 24-17, and would trade the Wolverines point for point the rest of the way and close out the game and the match 30-25.
The Wolverines (7-6) will play again at 5:00 pm (MST) against Harvard.
