Five Players Score in Double Figures in Win over Johnson & Wales

Orem, UT- The Utah Valley State men' basketball team defeated Johnson & Wales 95-55 on Saturday at the McKay Center. The win ups the Wolverines record to 12-6.

For the first time this season Utah Valley had five players in double figures led by Ryan Toolson's 16. Matt Peterson scored 14 while Brett Ravenberg and Richard Troyer each had 13. Chris Bailey also had 10 points.

Ravenberg's 13 points was a career high and he also had six rebounds in only 12 minutes of play.

"That was nice for Brett," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "He has worked hard and shot the ball well in practice. He had a good game for us. He was the most mentally prepared to play tonight so I was happy to see that."

Troyer and Jordan Brady led UV with seven rebounds while Toolson tied a career high in assists with seven.

As a team Utah Valley shot 57 percent from the floor and held Johnson & Wales to 34 percent. The Wolverines out rebounded the Wildcats 43-25 and had 29 assists.

Johnson & Wales hung with the Wolverines for most of the first half. Utah Valley led 15-11 after a lay up by Ravenberg with 11:56 left in the half. But over the final eight minutes of period Utah Valley outscored the Wildcats 29-9 to lead 44-24 at the break.

Utah Valley maintained its 20 plus point lead through out the second half and over the final 10 minutes built a lead as big as 40 points.

The Wolverines return to the court next week when they travel to South Dakota State on Thursday at 6 p.m. UV's next home game is February 1.
