Logan, UT- The Utah Valley State men's basketball team plays its final in-state game of the season when they play at Utah State (10-5) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1400 KSTAR.
This is the second meeting of the season between the two schools as Utah State knocked off the Wolverines 69-65 in Orem on December 9. Durrall Peterson tallied a game high 20 points and Jaycee Carroll had 18 in the victory.
"The Aggies roughed us up pretty good in Orem," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "I have a great concern with their physical level of play. Utah State plays with great confidence and emotion at home. This will be a new experience for Utah Valley State to compete on the home court of the Aggies."
Carroll leads USU in scoring at 20.5 points a game and in rebounding at 5.7 boards a game. Stephen DuCharme is second in scoring at 10.6 points and tied with Carroll in rebounding at 5.7. As a team Utah State is scoring 71.2 points a game and shooting 48 percent from the field.
Utah State enters the game on two game losing streak after falling 77-66 at Boise State and 79-70 at Fresno State. Wednesday's game is the first of a four straight home games for the Aggies.
Utah Valley State comes into the game riding a four-game win-streak and a 10-5 record. The Wolverines won at UC Davis 57-38 on Saturday. Utah Valley's defense held Davis to 14 points in the second half. Ryan Toolson led UV in scoring with 14 points. Richard Troyer also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the victory.
Toolson leads the Wolverines in scoring at 13.7 points while David Heck is right behind Toolson at 13.5 points a game. Heck leads the team in rebounding at 5.1 boards a game.
Following Wednesday's game, the Wolverines return to the court on January 15 for a contest against fellow Division I Independent Longwood at the McKay Center. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
