Volleyball Completes Perfect Trip With Sweep of Chicago State

Oct. 1, 2007

Chicago, Illinois - Utah Valley rolled past Chicago State in a 30-18, 30-23, 30-18 sweep on Monday, running the Wolverines' win streak to six matches.

Several UV players posted big numbers, led by Jessica Endres' 15 kills and .591 hitting percentage. Kayli Broadbent had 13 kills and hit .407, Meagan Bluth picked up 10 kills and hit .407 and Dani Robison hit .455 with six kills, rounding out four Wolverines with at least 10 attempts that hit over .400.

"The girls came out and just played really well," said head coach Sam Atoa. "It shows that we can be a great team when we're able to go out and just compete like we can. Now the challenge is to keep improving and getting better.

Kristi Lindley and Allyce Wilson also posted good numbers in their respective specialties. Lindley had 44 assists (14.66g) and Wilson recorded 23 digs (7.66g).

As a team, the Wolverines out-hit the Cougars .364 to .109 and were never threatened in any single game.

Utah Valley went a perfect 4-0 on the trip that took them from Orem to Newark, New Jersey for the NJIT Invitational over the weekend and then Chicago, Illinois for Monday's match.

"I'm excited that we were able to have the success we did over the weekend. We've been away from home for a long time but it's definitely good to come back with four wins," said Atoa.

The match was the final of nine straight away from home, with UV going 6-3 during the stretch.

The Wolverines will be home to face Texas-Pan American on Friday at 7pm before facing in-state rival BYU next Tuesday in Provo in a match that can be seen on BYU-TV.
