OREM, Utah - Utah Valley had several players post big numbers in a 3-1 (30-23, 27-30, 30-19, 30-20) win over Boise State in NCAA women's volleyball action on Thursday night in Orem.
Defensively, Kristin Anderson set a school record with 12 block-assists and Allyce Wilson recorded a four-game school record 36 digs as the Wolverines (15-6) held the Broncos (4-19) to an .092 hitting percentage. UV had 17.0 total team blocks for the match. Kristi Lindley had eight block-assists to go along with 64 assists and six digs.
On the offensive side of the ball, Meagan Bluth hit .545 with 15 kills while Camie Manwill had 18 kills and hit .405. Not lost in the shuffle was Jessica Endres' 12 kills and .367 percentage.
"I thought the girls had a great effort and were in control of what they needed to do," said head coach Sam Atoa. "We're a good team and if we are able to keep focused on basic, simple keys to the game we do okay."
Boise State was led by 12 kills from Tiffany Starring. American Fork native Alisha King had nine kills for the Broncos.
After game one was tight for two-thirds of the opening game, the Wolverines used a late 10-4 run to build a 29-22 lead before an Endres kill ended the game and gave UV an early 1-0 lead.
The Wolverines hit .310 in the opener with Endres' six kills leading the way. Wilson had an impressive 13 digs in game one.
Boise State fought back in game two and built an early 10-2 lead that gave the Broncos enough of a cushion to withstand mini-runs by the Wolverines to tie the match at 1-1.
In game three, Utah Valley hit .375 to cruise to to an 11-point win. Game four saw the Wolverines hold the Broncos to an -.075 percentage, with much of the damage coming in the form of 13 block-assists.
The Wolverines have now won 10 out of their last 11 matches and improve to 4-0 all-time against Boise State.
Utah Valley will travel to Texas-Pan American for an afternoon match on Saturday. In-state foe Utah will be in Orem on Tuesday night a 7pm.
