Wolverines Back on Track With Sweep of Idaho State

Oct. 27, 2007

OREM, Utah - Utah Valley rebounded from two losses earlier in the week with a 30-19, 30-28, 30-24 sweep of Idaho State on Saturday night in Orem.

Terin Ledall statistically had her best match of the season, hitting .409 with 12 kills for the Wolverines, who improved to 17-8 with the win, one win shy of the school record. Idaho State dropped to 5-19 with the loss and dropped both matches to Utah Valley this season.

"Terin did a great job," said head coach Sam Atoa. "She was challenged to be able to come in tonight and do some things that she's been waiting to do. I was very pleased with her effort."

Jessica Endres hit .400 with 12 kills and Kayli Broadbent had 15 kills while Allyce Wilson had 18 digs and Kristi Lindley dished out 42 assists for the Wolverines.

After cruising in a game one that saw Broadbent lead the way with eight kills and the team hit .514, game two was leaning the way of the Bengals, who carried a 27-24 lead into a UV timeout.

Following the timeout, the Wolverines scored four straight, with three points coming on Ledall kills, to take a 28-27 lead. After Idaho State tied it up, Camie Manwill and Broadbent scored on back-to-back kills to give UV a commanding 2-0 lead.

Leading 23-19 in game three, Chelsea Baugh recorded a kill of off a service reception to start a 4-0 run that put the Wolverines up 27-19 on their way to the sweep.

Utah Valley has two big in-state matches next week starting with Weber State on Tuesday night in Ogden. While the Wildcats will look to avenge an earlier loss this season to UV in Orem, it's the Wolverines that will be looking for revenge on Thursday when Utah State comes to town. The Aggies defeated UV 3-1 this past Thursday in Logan.
