JONESBORO, Ark - Utah Valley's season-opening, three-game road trip will wrap up on Wednesday evening as the Wolverines will face off against Arkansas State at 7 p.m. (CT)
"Arkansas State has an experienced perimeter game," UV head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "(Adrian) Banks may be as good of a shooter as we will see this season and (Ryan) Wedel is a potential all-conference point guard. It will be their season opener so they will be excited. We will need to bring an equal amount of emotion to match theirs."
UV (0-2) has opened the season with two competitive games on the road at Boise State and at No. 10 Marquette. The Wolverines led both games at halftime but lost each game on their opponents' home floors. The Indians will be opening their season against UV after winning each of their exhibition games.
Ryan Toolson has led Utah Valley in scoring in each of the Wolverines first two games. He is currently averaging 24.5 points per game after leading all scorers in consecutive contests. Jordan Brady is nearly averaging a double-double in UV's first two, scoring 10.5 points while pulling down 9.5 rebounds per game.
Arkansas State was the top team in the Sun Belt's West Division last season and is picked to finish third in the division this year.
It is the first match up between the two schools but they will meet again when ASU visits the Wolverines in Orem on Jan. 30.
