Wolverines Set New School Win Record With Sweep of Providence

OREM, Utah - Utah Valley set a new school record with its 19th win of the season on Friday afternoon, a 30-18, 30-21, 30-16 sweep of Providence in the Wolverines' opening match of the 2007 Division I Independent Championship.

Jessica Endres had 12 kills and hit .611 while Kristin Anderson had 10 kills and hit .438 as Utah Valley (19-11) hit .317 for the match compared to .110 for the Friars (18-12).

Endres got UV going early three consecutive kills to put the team up 6-2 in game one. The Wolverines used a 6-0 run later in the game to take a 23-12 advantage before cruising to a 30-18 win in the opener. Endres had seven kills in eight attempts in game one as UV hit .324.

Game two was similar to game one as the Wolverines duplicated the .324 hitting percentage in a 30-21 win. Manwill had six kills in the game while Kristin Anderson had four kills on six attempts.

In game three the Wolverines combined for six service aces with Kayli Broadbent collecting three consecutive aces late in the match. UV had 14 aces in the match, one short of a school record.

Utah Valley will take on Texas-Pan American tonight at 6pm with the winner advancing to tomorrow's championship match.

In other matches early on, Texas-Pan American defeated Providence in a tight five-game affair and Chicago State upset NJIT in four games.
