OREM, Utah - Coming off a thrilling double overtime win on the road against Southern Utah, Utah Valley will remain in-state on the road as the Wolverines travel to Logan to participate in the Gossner Classic.
"The players enjoy competing in tournaments," UV head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "It is always a daunting task when you open a tournament against the host. Utah State is beginning to blend and starting to find their rolls. Their play has been on the uptick. We are facing an All-America player in Jaycee Carroll."
UV will play host school Utah State on Thursday evening at 8:05 p.m. Friday, the Wolverines will play either Northern Arizona or Furman. The Thursday evening game against Utah State will be televised live statewide on KJZZ TV. Barry Hecker and Craig Hislop will have the live call.
The game can also be heard live in Utah County on AM 1400 KSTAR. Steve Watts will have the play-by-play story with former Wolverines David Heck and Matt Peterson offering analysis. The game can also be heard online at www.WolverineGreen.com.
Utah State enters the game having won its last two contests. The Aggies are led by Jaycee Carroll who averages 20 points per game. Stephen DuCharme and Gary Wilkinson average 11 points apiece for USU. Ryan Toolson leads UV, averaging 21.6 points per game, while Jordan Brady averages nearly 11 points and nine rebounds per contest.
After the Gossner Classic UV will finish the 2007 calendar year at home with games against Cal State Northridge and San Francisco, two teams the Wolverines have already played this season.
