OREM, Utah - Utah Valley will have a second chance at a team for the second time this season when Big West foe Cal State Northridge comes to town Friday evening to take on the Wolverines. Tip off at the McKay Center is slated for 7:05 p.m.
"Northridge pressured us and had us playing on our heels the entire game at their place," UV head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "We are going to have to do a much better job against their tenacious defensive effort or it will be a repeat of the first game."
The Wolverines, who have won two of their last three games--all away from home, fell to the Matadors, 76-64 in Northridge on Dec. 5. Ryan Toolson led all scorers with 18 points in that game while CSUN's Calvin Chitwood scored 15 and pulled down 11 boards for the Matadors.
Cal State Northridge enters the game with a 7-3 record. Two of the Matadors losses came against perennial powers Gonzaga and Washington.
UV (5-8) is led by Toolson who averages 21.8 points per game. Jordan Brady averages 10.8 points and 8.0 rebounds. Chitwood leads four Northridge players in double figures, averaging 13.0 per game.
The game will be carried live on AM 1400 KSTAR with Steve Watts bringing the play-by-play story. The game can also be heard live on www.WolverineGreen.com.
After CSUN, UV will play host to the University of San Francisco on Dec. 31 before heading out on the road for five straight games away from the McKay Center.
