Fort Wayne, IN- The Utah Valley State men's basketball team travels back East for its final two road games of the season when they play Thursday at 5 p.m. (MST) against IPFW and Saturday at Noon against New Jersey Institute of Technology. Both games can be heard live on 1400 KSTAR.
This is the fourth meeting between IPFW and Utah Valley. The Wolverines hold a 3-0 series lead after beating the Mastodons' in Orem, 96-66, back on February 3.
Utah Valley enters Thursday's game at IPFW with a 19-7 record after recording home wins over North Dakota State and South Dakota State last week. The Wolverines are riding a six-game win streak and have won 13 of their last 15 games.
Ryan Toolson leads UV in scoring at 15 points a game. He was just recently named the Division I Independent Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. Last week he averaged 20 points a game while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from the 3-point line.
David Heck is second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points a game and second in rebounding at 4.7. Jordan Brady is the top rebounder at 5.3 a contest.
Utah Valley is shooting 48 percent from the field and averaging 72 points a game.
The Wolverines continue to receive votes in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll as they are ranked 33rd for the second straight week.
IPFW (10-15) hopes to break a school record for most wins as a Division I program on Thursday when they host the Wolverines. The previous record was set last year when the Mastodons' went 10-18.
DeWitt Scott leads IPFW in scoring at 11.2 points a game. Tyler Best is second in scoring at 9.3 points and first in rebounding at 5.1. As a team, IPFW is shooting 44 percent from the field. They boast a 7-4 record at home.
"IPFW is playing with great confidence," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "I'm sure they'll have revenge on their minds from the game in Orem. They are a physically talented team that can score the ball at will. They have quickness on the perimeter and bulk and size up front. They are a team that can put points on the board in a hurry."
Utah Valley closes out its season, March 3, when they host Texas-Pan American on Senior Night. It will be the final game for seniors David Heck, Matt Peterson, Chris Bailey and Peter Brown.
