Volleyball Travels to Butler Invitational

Orem, Utah - Utah Valley travels to Indianapolis this Friday and Saturday for the Butler Invitational. The Wolverines will face Tennessee Tech at 10am MT and Northern Illinois at 1pm MT on Friday, August 31st. They will then wrap up play at the invitational with host Butler on Saturday, September 1st at 10am MT.

All of the matches during the invitational will feature Gametracker. The Wolverines' three matches can be accessed by going to www.WolverineGreen.com with all of the tournament's matches available at www.ButlerSports.com.

It will be the first time that Utah Valley will face each of the three schools in its four seasons at the NCAA D-I level.

The Wolverines went 9-6 in 2006 at tournaments, including the Division I Independent Championship, and will play in five tournaments this season.

UV lost its season opener last Friday at home against Wyoming in five games (24-30, 30-24, 30-24, 17-30, 7-15). The loss is the first five-game loss for the Wolverines since the 2005 season.

Jessica Endres hit .382 and had 18 kills while Camie Manwill had a team-high 19 kills in the match. Three newcomers, Meagan Bluth, Allyce Wilson and Kristi Lindley all had solid debuts for the Wolverines. Bluth had 10 kills Wilson added 21 digs and picked up 54 assists (10.8 apg).

Tennessee Tech is 2-1 after opening the season with wins over Coastal and Memphis before falling to host Louisville at the Louisville Invitational.

Leah Meffert averaged 4.31 kills per game and was named to the all-tournament team.

Northern Illinois is 1-3 so far, losing to Indiana and Western Kentucky before sweeping Western Illinois at the NIU Invitational. Illinois State then defeated the Huskies 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Invitational host Butler opened the season by defeating Jacksonville before dropping matches to Hofstra and Miami (Fla.) at the Orange & Green Challenge in Coral Gables, Florida.

The Bulldogs then lost at Xavier on Tuesday to move to 1-3 on the season.

The Wolverines will host the UVU/LaQuinta Inn & Suites Invitational next weekend. The four-team invitational includes Arizona State, San Jose State and Weber State.

It is the third consecutive year that Utah Valley will host the tournament.
