Wolverines on Losing End to Temple in Five Games

Sept. 15, 2007

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Kathleen Stevens had a career-best 26 digs and three Utah Valley players finished with at least 15 kills but it wasn't enough to prevent Temple from topping UV in five games (30-21, 25-30, 23-30, 30-27, 15-6) at the Michigan/Nike Invitational on Saturday.

Jessica Endres and Camie Manwill both had 16 kills while Kayli Broadbent had 15 kills and hit a game-high .316 for the Wolverines. UV fell to 5-5 and lost its fourth straight match, Temple improved to 4-10 with the win.

After falling in the opening game, Utah Valley took control of the match with consecutive wins. Defensively, the Wolverines dominated through those first three games, holding the Owls to just a 0.67 hitting percentage.

Game four saw a dramatic turn as Temple hit .326 in tying up the match before hitting .438 in the decisive fifth game.

Temple's Liu Yue led all players with 24 kills with teammate Yun Yi Zhang adding 20 of her own.

The Wolverines finished the Michigan/Nike Invitational 0-3 and dropped to 3-3 on the year in five-game matches. Utah Valley was 4-0 all of last season in five-game affairs.

The Wolverines will have a week off before traveling to Pocatello, Idaho to face Idaho State next Saturday.
