CHICAGO - Two of the nation's top scorers will be on display as Utah Valley opens Division I independent play at Chicago State Saturday afternoon. Tip off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (MT)
Chicago State (5-13) has the nation's 10th leading scorer in guard David Holston who averages 23.1 points per game this year. Holston leads all independent players in scoring. Ryan Toolson averages 22.5 points per game for UV (6-11), good for 11th in the nation.
"Chicago State is a quick, athletic team," Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "Holston is a terrific player. We are continuing to fight and are working to be prepared as best as we can for an aggressive and hungry Chicago State team."
The game with the Cougars marks the third straight road contest for UV in a road trip that has taken the Wolverines to three states in seven days. The Chicago State is the middle game in a five-game road trip.
The game will be carried live on AM 1400 KSTAR and WolverineGreen.com. Steve Winn and Stuart Dean will be calling the game filling in for Steve Watts.
After Chicago State, UV will travel to Lafayette, La., to take on Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday evening.
