Volleyball to Host Weber State, BYU and Chicago State This Week

OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University's women's volleyball team will play three matches this week all at home in Orem. The Wolverines (9-8, 1-2) will host two in-state rivals in Weber State (Tuesday) and BYU (Saturday) as well as Great West Conference foe Chicago State (Thursday); all three matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Live stats and live video will be available for all of this week's matches through WolverineGreen.com. The matches against Weber State and BYU will also be televised live locally on UVU-TV (Comcast Ch. 17).

UVU dropped both of its conference matches in the Dakotas last week as it fell 3-1 to both South Dakota and the reigning conference champion North Dakota Fighting Sioux. This week the Wolverines will be looking to rebound when it hosts its three opponents.

Weber State enters Tuesday's contest with a 2-15 record including a 0-6 Big Sky mark. The Wildcats have lost their last seven matches, which includes a 0-6 clip on the road. Weber State is led offensively by Bethany Wray who has 209 kills (3.22 k/s). WSU holds a slim 6-5 all-time series advantage.

Chicago State will enter Thursday's match looking for its first win of the season as it holds a 0-19 record and a 0-4 GWC slate. The Cougars haven't won a match since the 2007 season. UVU is 5-0 all-time against CSU.

BYU will come to Orem for the first time since the 2006 season. The Cougars enter play this week with a 3-12 record and a 0-3 Mountain West clip. BYU is led offensively by Christie Carpenter who has 173 kills and is averaging 2.84 kills per set. BYU has previously lost its last eight matches and will play at San Diego State on Thursday. The Cougars lead the all-time series against UVU 6-0.

Tuesday's match against in-state rival Weber State will be the volleyball teams official "Pink for a Purpose" night. The UVU volleyball team will be raising money on this night for former UVU Softball player Jordahn Denny, who was injured in a car accident earlier this year. Saturday's match against crosstown rival BYU will be Hometown Hero Night for senior outside hitter Kayli Doxey. Fans from Arizona get in for just $1 and fans from Kayli's hometown of Gilbert get in for FREE (show your ID at the ticket table). The first 200 fans will receive a Kayli Doxey Hometown Hero poster. Following the match, Kayli will sign autographs.
