Complete Release in PDF Format

OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University volleyball team will play its final two home matches of the season this Thursday and Friday when it hosts conference foes Houston Baptist and Texas-Pan American at 7 p.m. both days. Friday's match with UTPA will be senior night as UVU will honor its four departing seniors: Kayli Doxey, Lanni O'Reilly, Dani Robison and Kathleen Stevens.

The Wolverines (16-10, 5-3) are coming off of a split at home last week where they defeated South Dakota in four sets on Thursday before dropping a five-set thriller to conference leading North Dakota on Saturday. Despite the loss, UVU is sitting in third place in the Great West standings and will look to overtake second place with a win over Houston Baptist on Thursday night.

In the UND match last Saturday, Doxey broke Camie Manwill's all-time school career kills record with 1,521. The week before, Stevens became UVU's all-time record holder in career service aces as she surpassed former Wolverine and current assistant coach Lacee Koelliker's old mark of 123.

The Houston Baptist Huskies have an identical overall record as UVU as they are 16-10 but they are a half-game ahead in conference with a 6-3 clip. Earlier this season the Wolverines swept a close match over the Huskies in Houston (25-23, 25-21, 25-23) to improve to 5-0 all-time against HBU. The Huskies are led offensively by Heather Leaverton who has 243 kills and Isis Gardner who has 231.

Texas-Pan American will enter the week with a 7-17 overall record and a 4-5 GWC mark. The Broncs will play a non-conference match at Idaho State Thursday evening before coming to the Activity Center to play UVU. The Wolverines have already previously defeated the Broncs this season down in Edinburg on Oct. 14, in three sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-17).

UVU also holds a commanding all-time series advantage against UTPA. The Wolverines are 15-1 all-time against the Broncs, which includes a perfect 8-0 record in Orem.

Before the Great West Volleyball Championships on Nov. 19-21, in Chicago, UVU will conclude its regular season with two more conference road matches. The Wolverines will first play at NJIT on Nov. 11 and finish the season at Chicago State on Nov. 13.
