Game 2 Box Score

DALLAS - Jessica Anderson's two-run double in the top of the second inning was as the Wolverines would need, but for good measure they added two more runs later in the contest in posting a 4-1 victory over Houston Baptist Friday in Game 1 of a doubleheader with the Huskies.

UVU's Megan Gardner went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Jessica Martin improved to 3-0 by allowing three runs on four hits in twirling the complete game in Game 2 to complete the sweep.

In Game 1, Amber Sackett singled to open the inning, and after HBU recorded a pair of outs, Shaylyn Varney walked before Anderson's two-run two-bagger.

Later in the contest, Sackett drove in a run as did Charlee Cisneros. Meghan Woodworth, who has missed six games due to injury, had two hits for the Wolverines.

Kyli Flanary allowed one run on eight hits in recording her third victory of the season.

In Game 2, HBU scored two runs in the top of the first inning on two hits, but Martin allowed just two hits the remainder of the way.

Cherylyn McGraw began the UVU comeback with a homer in the second, and then took a 3-1 lead on two-run homer by Gardner in the third.

HBU tied the game in the fourth and the Wolverines got the game-winning RBI single by Varney in the bottom of the fifth.

The Wolverines (7-14) continue as the Great West Conference mid-season tournament Saturday when they battle South Dakota at noon and 2 p.m. in Dallas. UVU wraps up the tournament Sunday with two games with North Dakota with the first game beginning at 9 a.m.
