OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley University moved above .500 for the first time since early in the year with a doubleheader sweep of the College of Idaho Monday afternoon.

Julia Santiago came off the bench and drove in three runs and Amber Sackett, Shaylyn Varney and Cherylyn McGraw drove in three runs each in leading the Wolverines to the 16-3 victory in Game 1.

In Game 2, Mandy Tapia twirled a complete-game one-hitter for her second straight win in the 9-0 win over the Coyotes.

The Wolverines (17-16) have won four straight games and eight of their last 10 games.

"The girls hit it well all day and we should have. The pitching we saw wasn't overpowering," UVU Todd Fairbourne said. "Also, I was happy with the play of our subs."

They are back in action Tuesday when they host BYU at 5 p.m.

The Wolverines jumped all over the Coyotes, who were playing without their top pitcher Jody Zillner, with four runs in the first, five in the second and seven in the third.

The Wolverines finished with 10 hits, and of those 10 hits only two were for extra bases. The Coyotes walked eight UVU hitters and committed five errors.

In the game, Meghan Woodworth went 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored, while Amanda Perez also had two hits.

Jessica Martin improved to 4-1 with two innings of relief. She allowed one run on two hits. Heather Bacon started and allowed two runs on three hits in three innings.

In Game 2, the Wolverines' seven hitters reached base and eventually scored. Woodworth doubled as did Tapia to score Woodworth. Following Megan Gardner's two-run homer, Sackett singled, Varney walked and McGraw doubled in a run. Perez then belted a three-run homer.

Korryn Coates and Samantha Telarroja added RBI base hits in the fourth.

Tapia finished with three hits, while Perez went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
