OREM, Utah - The Green squad swept all three matches in Utah Valley's Green-and-White exhibition volleyball match Tuesday, with scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 20-18 respectively.
The final set was supposed to end at 15, but a back-and-forth series kept the set competitive until the end as senior Kayli Doxey spiked her team to a victory and sweep.
UVU head coach Sam Atoa took the opportunity during breaks in play to school the attendees on various details of the sport that usually go unnoticed to a casual spectator.
"Tonight was great," Atoa said. "This is something that we want to be able to do every year. It's a good way to get the fans and family members together and to get our girls in more of a game-like situation as we prepare for the season this weekend."
Broadbent Doxey led the way in kills with 17 in the match and sophomore Erica Nish had 11, both for the Green squad.
Utah Valley will begin regular season play this weekend at the Tiger Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri. The first match is against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Friday, August 27 followed by two matches on Saturday - a morning match versus the Maryland Terrapins followed by a night match against the hosting Tigers of Mizzou.
