OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University continues its early-season WAC schedule with a pair of home matches this week at Clyde Field. The Wolverines (4-3-1) will host Grand Canyon on Friday at 5 p.m. MT and UNLV on Sunday at 11 a.m. MT. Both matches are part of men/women doubleheaders with Friday's contest slated to air on the WAC Digital Network.

UVU and then-No. 24 Seattle University finished in a 1-1 draw to open the WAC season last Saturday in Orem. It was the Wolverines' second straight contest against a top 25 foe and the third in the last four games. The Redhawks scored less than 10 minutes in and held that lead into the second half before Karson Payton delivered the equalizer on a direct free kick.

"The boys know they let solid chances slip away against Seattle and they're ready to get back on the pitch with Grand Canyon and UNLV," said UVU head coach Greg Maas. "Every team is dangerous in the WAC this year and we're determined to approach each match with confidence and conviction."

This weekend's action wraps up a three-game league homestand before three straight on the road. UVU plays a single game next week at Seattle U before matches at Air Force and Kansas City.

Grand Canyon enters Friday's match at 2-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the WAC after falling 3-0 at UNLV on Oct. 5. Three different players have scored two goals for GCU: Jose Rodriguez Nieblas, Alberto Sanchez Garcia and Niki Jackson, who have combined to score all but one of the Lopes' goals this season.

UNLV is 7-2-1 and 1-0-0 in the WAC with last week's win over Grand Canyon. The Rebels are second in the league and seventh in the country with 2.40 goals scored per game. Like Utah Valley, UNLV went 1-1 in the Rebel Classic, dropping a 4-2 decision to UC Irvine before defeating UC Riverside 2-0. The Rebels play at Seattle U on Friday.
