OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team basketball team will play the first of seven straight road games at Eastern Washington Monday night at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash. Tip-off is set for 6:05 p.m. MT.

Eastern Washington, picked to finish second in the Big Sky Conference this season, heads into Monday night's game with a 1-0 record. The Eagles opened the season with an 86-62 win over 2014 NCAA Tournament participant Texas Southern at home on Friday night. Junior Venky Jois led the Eagles with 22 points, all of which were scored in the second half. Junior Tyler Harvey finished the game with 21 points, while Drew Brandon came an assist away from a triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

The Eagles return four starters and five other letterwinners from last year's team that went 15-16 overall and finished tied for seventh in the Big Sky Conference with a 10-10 record.

Monday night's meeting between Utah Valley and Eastern Washington will mark just the second time that the two schools have met on the hardwood. The only other meeting between the two schools took place on Nov. 20, 2012 at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, Calif. Utah Valley won the game by a score of 86-83.

"Eastern Washington plays with a lot of confidence," said Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker. "They are one of the preseason favorites to win the Big Sky Conference. They have the preseason Big Sky player of the year in Tyler Harvey. They pose a lot of matchup issues for us as they have multiple players with the ability to shoot the three. They put a lot of pressure on your transition defense on missed and made field goals."

Utah Valley heads into Monday night's contest with a 1-0 record this season. The Wolverines knocked off South Dakota 60-52 on Friday night at the UCCU Center. Junior transfers Marcel Davis and Donte Williams each scored a game-high 16 points, while senior Mitch Bruneel nearly had a double-double with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Along with his 16 points, Davis also pulled down a career-high seven rebounds, collected four steals and dished out three assists. Williams knocked down a pair of three-point field goals in Friday night's win over South Dakota. He also tallied four rebounds and two assists.

Monday's game will tip off at 6:05 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast live on 960 AM The Zone.
