Utah Valley women's basketball travels to Logan to play Utah State in first road game

OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley women's basketball team travels to Logan, Utah to play Utah State in their first road game of the season.

Utah Valley (2-1) will see the Aggies (2-0) for the first time since 2012, when UVU defeated the Aggies 78-62 at the UCCU Center. However, USU leads the series 5-3, and 3-1 on their home court.

"Utah State is a good team, they played on the road to some really good teams, so we know going in we have to play well and be competitive," head coach Cathy Nixon said.  "But hopefully we will be able to be competitive and aggressive."

Utah State was defeated by Oregon 100-77 on Nov. 14 and by No. 20 Oregon State 85-62 on Nov. 16. The Aggies were picked to finish eighth in the Mountain West Conference of the 11 teams in the preseason coaches poll.

They return four starters and 10 letterwinners from the 2013-14 season, where they finished eighth in the league and were knocked out in the second round of the tournament. Thursday's meeting will be Utah State's first on their home court.

Junior guard Makenlee Williams is averaging 21 points per game and three steals per game. Williams is averaging 51.6 percent from the field

The Wolverines head to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on a high note after defeating Montana Tech 75-65 on Monday night and Bristol University 109-74 on Saturday.  Sophomore guard Rhaiah Spooner-Knight leads UVU in scoring, averaging 17.0 ppg  and in assists averaging 4.67 per game.
