OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University women's basketball team will host Southern Utah at home on Tuesday Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.

This will be the 16th game all-time between UVU and Southern Utah. SUU leads the series 11-4, winning the last eight match-ups. Utah Valley's last win against the Thunderbirds came on Nov. 18, 2009 (68-54).

Southern Utah returns three starters and an additional four returners. Headlining this list is senior guard Hailey Mandelko, the Thunderbirds most proven scorer from last season, averaging 14.2 points per game.

The T-Birds bring a 2-0 record into Tuesday night's game after wins against Boise State and New Mexico Highlands at home. Mandelko put up 29 points against Boise State while Iva Georgieva scored 14 against NMHU.

"We are looking forward to being back home, any game is important but we hope to put together a good game against SUU, we want to play well against the in-state school," head coach Cathy Nixon said. "They were a good team last year and have some good players so we need to come out and be ready."

The Wolverines are returning home after a trip to the Bay Area where they were defeated by UC Davis and San Francisco bringing their record to 3-4. Mariah Seals scored 19 points in the contest at Davis, a career high for the young freshman.  Seals also leads the team in free throws made, free throws attempted, three pointers made, three pointers attempted and assists with 24 this season.

Through seven games this season, Rhaiah Spooner-Knight leads the Wolverines with 14.1 points per game, while Patrice Toston is averaging 10.3 points per game and Seals with 10.1. Karlee Norris leads on the boards with 10.1 per contest.

SUU is coached by former UVU assistant coach Chris Boettcher. Boettcher was Nixon's assistant for eight seasons before a stint at BYU and one season coaching a men's professional team in Japan.

Tuesday's game will tip-off at 7 p.m. MT in the UCCU Center and live audio, live stats and a live stream will be available at WolverineGreen.com.
