OREM, Utah--The Utah Valley University men's basketball team returns home for the first time since Nov. 14 to host in-state rival Utah State Saturday night at the UCCU Center.
The Wolverines head into Saturday's contest fresh off a seven-game road stretch that included games at Eastern Washington, Southern Utah, Idaho State, UC Davis, Sacramento State, Montana State and No. 3 Arizona.
After opening the season with three straight come-from-behind wins, Utah State has dropped four in a row to bring its record to 3-4 on the season. The Aggies most recently dropped an 89-84 decision at USC. Jalen Moore leads the offensive effort for Utah State, averaging 15.1 points per game and a team-best 7.3 rebounds per contest. Moore has scored in double figures in all but one of Utah State's seven games this season. Redshirt freshman David Collette helps with 15.0 points per game. Collette scored a USU freshman single-game record 32 points at USC on Sunday. Junior guards Darius Perkins and Chris Smith also average double figure scoring at 12.6 and 11.7 points per game, respectively. The duo also leads the team from beyond the arc with 19 and 13 makes this season.

"Utah State is well coached and disciplined as usual," said Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker. "They are athletic and will certainly be looking to create tempo through their defensive schemes."

Saturday night's meeting between Utah Valley and Utah State will mark the 10th time the two schools have met on the basketball court hardwood. Utah State owns a 9-0 record over the Wolverines as the Aggies hold a 5-0 record in Logan and a 4-0 mark over UVU in Orem. Utah State took a 71-60 win in Logan over Utah Valley the last time the two teams met on Dec. 14, 2013. The last time the two teams met at the UCCU Center was on Dec. 15, 2012 with the Aggies taking a 69-63 victory.

Utah Valley enters Saturday's contest with a 3-5 record. The Wolverines recently dropped an 87-56 decision to No. 3 Arizona at McKale Arena Tuesday night. The game against Arizona marks the highest-ranked opponent that Utah Valley had ever faced. The game wrapped up a streak of seven straight road games for UVU. Through eight games this season, Bruneel leads the Wolverines in scoring at 11.6 points per contest. Bruneel and
