OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team will host Sacramento State Saturday night at the UCCU Center. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. MT. The game will mark the second contest of the year between the two teams as Sacramento State defeated Utah Valley 65-56 on Dec. 1 in Sacramento.

Sacramento State is 5-5 heading into Saturday night's contest with the Wolverines. The game against UVU will mark Sacramento State's final non-conference game of the season. The Hornets have dropped four of their last five games, and are averaging 63.6 points per game over that span. That includes season lows in both points (47) and field goal percentage (.304) in Sunday's 66-47 loss at WAC foe Seattle U. The Hornets are 1-4 on the road this year, which includes a current three-game road-losing streak since the team's lone win away from home on Nov. 17 at UC Riverside. The Hornets opened the season by winning four out of their first five games. Sacramento State owns a 4-1 record at home this season.

Sacramento State's senior guard co-captain duo of Mikh McKinney and Dylan Garrity lead the team in scoring at 18.2 and 11.6 points per game, respectively. McKinney and Garrity are each 1,000-point career scorers for the Hornets as Garrity became Sacramento State's 12th player in team history to achieve the mark and McKinney is the 13th. McKinney ranks third in the nation in steals per game at 3.2 a contest.

"Sacramento State beat us in every phase of the game earlier this month," said Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker. "We are going to have to do a much better job of preparing and being ready to face the toughness that Sacramento State will come at us with."

Saturday night's meeting between Utah Valley and Sacramento State will mark the sixth time the two schools have met on the hardwood. The Wolverines own a 3-2 overall series lead over the Hornets. Saturday's matchup marks the second time the two schools have met this season as Sacramento State took a 65-56 victory in Sacramento on Dec. 1. UVU owns a perfect 2-0 record over the Hornets in games played in Orem.

Utah Valley enters Saturday night's game with a 4-7 overall record. The team is in the middle of a three-game home stand after playing eight of its first 10 games on the road, including a stretch of seven straight road contests. Utah Valley owns a 2-1 record at home with wins over South Dakota and Idaho State.

Utah Valley most recently defeated Idaho State 51-47 on Tuesday night. Donte Williams scored 12 points and Mitch Bruneel added 11 in the victory. Williams scored his team-high 12 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. He also knocked down 5-of-6 free throws and tallied three steals, a rebound and an assist. Bruneel scored in double figures for the seventh time this season, tallying 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 clip from the charity stripe. Bruneel also pulled down five rebounds on the night.

Through 11 games this season, Bruneel leads the Wolverines in scoring at 12.3 points per contest and rebounding at 6.3 boards a game. Zach Nelson averages 9.0 points per game. Marcel Davis fronts the team in assists at 3.6 per game.

Saturday's game will tip off at 7:05 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network. A radio broadcast will also be available on 960 AM The Zone.
