Utah Valley Hosts UC Riverside Friday, Travels to Play Utah on Sunday

OREM, Utah-The Utah Valley University women's soccer team wraps up a seven game home stand on Friday as the team welcomes UC Riverside to Clyde Field. The Wolverines will then begin a four-game road stretch at in-state rival Utah in Salt Lake on Sunday.

Utah Valley is 5-2-1 on the season. After dropping its first two matches of the year on the road, the Wolverines have gone 5-0-1 at home with wins over Baylor, Wyoming, Southern Utah, UTEP and UNLV.

Junior forward Kali Stubbs leads the team with three goals. She also has two assists and is the team leader in points with eight. Stubbs also fronts the team with 16 shots on the year. Junior keeper Jessica Duffin is the WAC leader with four shutouts. She holds a 0.48 goals against average as she has allowed only four goals this year.

UTAH VALLEY RANKED NO. 6 IN NSCAA DIVISION I WEST REGIONAL POLL
For the first time in school history, Utah Valley is ranked in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's West Division Poll. The Wolverines are ranked sixth in the top-10 poll. Just ahead of UVU in the poll is UC Riverside at No. 5. The Wolverines will host the Highlanders Friday at Clyde Field. WAC foe Seattle U is ranked in the poll at No. 10.

UTAH VALLEY RANKS 18TH NATIONALLY IN ATTENDANCE
The Wolverines rank 18th in the national in accumulated attendance this season. Through six home games this year, Utah Valley has enjoyed 5,142 fans, an average of nearly 900 a game. The results have had an impact as the Wolverines are 5-0-1 at Clyde Field this season.

DUFFIN NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Utah Valley's Jessica Duffin was named the WAC Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 8-14. The honor is the first of Duffin's career. Duffin recorded three shutouts as Utah Valley went a perfect 3-0-0 last week. Duffin did not allow a single goal on the week as she registered 16 saves on 34 attacks to the net. Her 1-0 shutout win over UNLV on Sunday included nine minutes of overtime play.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Eight different Utah Valley players have registered a goal this season and eight different players have recorded an assist this year. Thirteen Wolverines have tallied at least one point this season.

UNBEATEN AT HOME
The Wolverines are 5-0-1 at home this season in the friendly confines of Clyde Field. UVU now holds an all-time record of 49-29-7 on the home pitch. Utah Valley wraps up its seven game home stand on Friday against UC Riverside before heading out on the road for four straight matches.

LEADING THE WAC
Jessica Duffin leads the WAC in goalie minutes played (748:20), goals-against average (0.481) and save percentage (0.902). She also ranks nationally in each of the three categories, ranking 13th in save percentage, 22nd in minutes played and 24th in goals-against average. As a team, Utah Valley ranks seventh nationally in save percentage (0.907) and 22nd in goals-against average (0.481) and fronts the WAC in those categories.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
UC Riverside has won its last two matches via shutout with a 3-0 rain-lengthened victory over Northern Iowa and a 4-0 clean sheet against Bakersfield. Sophomore forward Blanca Barrio was named the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts last week, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. At 4-1-1, the Highlanders have their best record through six matches since the 2006 season when they began the year 5-1-0.

Utah will head down to Logan for its annual rivalry contest against Utah State on Friday before returning home for Sunday's match against UVU. Last week, Utah got a pair of goals from players on its backline as Audrey Gibb and Megan Trabert tallied a score in the two Ute contests. Gibb's first goal as a Ute provided the team with a 1-1 draw against former MWC opponent UNLV. Trabert then scored the overtime winner on the road against UC Davis this past Sunday.
