OREM, Utah-The Utah Valley University men's basketball team will travel to Edinburg, Texas to take on Texas-Pan American Thursday night at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. MT.

Texas-Pan American (7-12, 1-2) enters Thursday's game having lost eight of its last 10 games. Seven of the team's eight losses came on the road. The team has lost three straight contests dating back to a 68-43 setback at home against UTSA on Jan. 12. The Broncs hold a 1-2 mark in conference play with a home win over Chicago State and road losses to Seattle U and Bakersfield. The Broncs hold a 5-1 record at home this season and own a 1-10 mark on the road.

Sophomore forward Janari Joesaar, a transfer from Ole Miss, leads UTPA in scoring at 18.2 points a contest. Joesaar is shooting 46.6 percent from the field, including a 39.3 percent clip from beyond the arc with 42 made threes this season. Joesaar is also the team leader in rebounds, pulling down 7.3 boards a game. Junior forward Shaquille Hines and senior guard Shaquille Boga also average double figures at 12.9 and 11.6 points per game, respectively.

"UTPA has played a challenging schedule this season," said Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker. "I know they will be excited to have this home stand and defend their home court."

Thursday night's meeting between Utah Valley and Texas-Pan American will mark the 19th time the two schools have met on the hardwood. The Wolverines own a 15-3 overall series lead over the Broncs. Both Utah Valley and UTPA played their first seasons in the WAC last year with the Wolverines winning all three games. UVU defeated UTPA 67-53 in Edinburg last season before downing the Broncs 45-42 at home in the inaugural WAC season. The Wolverines also defeated UTPA 83-63 in the first round of last year's WAC Tournament after shooting 70.5 percent from the field, breaking a nearly 30-year-old WAC Tournament single game field goal percentage record.

Utah Valley enters Thursday night's game with a 6-10 overall record. The team owns a 1-1 WAC record with a win over Seattle U and a loss to Grand Canyon. The Wolverines are 2-7 on the road this season.

The Wolverines most recently dropped an 83-74 decision to Grand Canyon on Jan. 15. Zach Nelson and Marcel Davis scored 20 points apiece for the Wolverines with Nelson also pulling down 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Mitch Bruneel also reached double figures with 11 points. Nelson scored his 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, including a 3-of-5 clip from long range. Davis tallied his 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

Through 16 games this season, Bruneel leads the Wolverines in scoring at 13.5 points per contest and rebounding at 6.5 boards a game. Zach Nelson and Donte Williams each average 8.9 points per game. Marcel Davis fronts the team in assists at 3.7 per game.
