Mariah Seals and
Rhaiah Spooner-Knight each scored 14 points to lead the Utah Valley University women's basketball team in a 67-60 setback to undefeated Alabama Saturday at the Nugget Classic in Reno, Nevada.

The loss brings Utah Valley's win streak to a halt at six games as the Wolverines fall to 6-2 on the season. Alabama improves to an undefeated 6-0 with the win.

UVU dropped in the first bucket of the contest, but Alabama responded with a 13-3 run to take a 13-5 advantage in the first quarter. Utah Valley cut the Tide lead to just two points, 13-11, at the 2:44 mark. A 6-0 Alabama run to close out the first quarter gave the Tide a 19-11 lead at the end of the first.

The Tide took a double-digit lead in the second quarter, but Utah Valley rallied to cut the Alabama lead to eight points, 33-25, heading into the break. Trailing 36-25 in the third quarter, Utah Valley went on a 14-2 run to take its first lead of the game, 38-37, at the 5:12 mark. The Wolverines extended their lead to a 41-38 advantage but Alabama rallied to take a 48-43 lead into the final quarter. The Tide never relinquished their lead in the fourth quarter to secure the 67-60 win.

Seals scored her 14 points on a 4-of-18 clip from the field, including one shot from beyond the arc. The sophomore guard also went a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and, after leading UVU to a win over host Nevada on Friday, was named to the All-Tournament Team. Spooner-Knight dropped in her 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field. She also pulled down seven rebounds.

Sam Loggins was also in double digits with 10 points. Loggins connected on 4-of-8 shots from the field.
Georgia Agnew led UVU with a game-high seven assists.

Utah Valley hit 35 percent (21-of-60) of its shots while Alabama connected on 44.3 percent (27-of-61). Both teams struggled from long range as the Tide recorded 1-of-14 shots (7.4 percent) from beyond the arc, while Utah Valley hit 3-of-22 shots (13.6 percent) from three-point range.
Next up for the Wolverines will be a Dec. 3 road game at Eastern Washington. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST.
