OREM, Utah—In a back-and-forth game that produced 20 lead changes and 15 ties, Montana State scored four unanswered points down the stretch to secure a 76-72 win over Utah Valley Tuesday night at the UCCU Center.

With the setback, Utah Valley falls to 2-5 on the season. Montana State improves to 4-3 with the win.

Hayden Schenck made a driving layup and was fouled with 1:53 remaining, and then made the free throw to tie the game at 72-72. Montana State countered with a Tyler Hall tip-in and a pair of free throws to secure the win.

"Our guys are playing so hard," said Utah Valley head coach
Mark Pope. "I love that. That's the way we have to be and that's the way we will always be. We turned the ball over and couldn't get a rebound down the stretch. We got a little frantic and it got us out of character. But we're making progress and we're getting better and growing. Â I expect our team to bounce back Saturday against Southern Utah."

Konner Frey scored a career-high 26 points and fell just short of his second double-double of the season with nine rebounds. The junior forward knocked down 8-of-16 shots from the field, including a pair of shots from long range. Frey also hit 8-of-11 shots from the free throw line.

Jaden Jackson recorded his fourth double digit scoring performance of the season with 14 points. Jackson hit a season-high four shots from beyond the arc on the night. Schenck and
Marcel Davis were also in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Wolverines were out-rebounded 45-35 on the night, including 8-1 over the final two minutes of the game.

Hall led Montana State with a game-high 25 points. Zach Green and Quinton Everett were also in double figures with 15 points apiece.

Utah Valley continues will play game three of its four-game home stand on Saturday as the Wolverines welcome in-state rival Southern Utah to the UCCU Center. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN 960 AM radio.
