OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team looks to snap a three-game skid Saturday night against in-state rival Southern Utah at the UCCU Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST.

Southern Utah enters its fourth season in the Big Sky Conference and the fourth season under head coach Nick Robinson. SUU continues to look for its first win of the season as the Thunderbirds hold a 0-5 record heading into Thursday's home game against La Verne. SUU has played three of its five games on the road this year.

SUU most recently dropped a 98-85 decision at Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 28.  Junior guard Trey Kennedy led the T-Birds with 20 points and seven assists in the setback at EKU. Senior guard Travon Langston helped with 15 points.  Langston leads the SUU offensive effort this season, averaging a team-high 14.0 points per game. Kennedy also averages double figures at 10.8 points a contest.

"In-state rivalry games are always special," "This game will be fun for me. Coach Robinson is one of my closest friends in the profession and we've known each other for a long time. We got into the business at the same time. He's done a great job working to rebuild that program from a hard spot. It's a strong program. They've showed steady strides. Last year, they made a huge step in sweeping a pair of games over Weber State. Coach Robinson is doing a terrific job and it will be a challenge for us."

Saturday night's meeting between Utah Valley and Southern Utah marks the sixth time the two schools have met on the basketball hardwood. The Wolverines own a 4-1 overall series lead over the Thunderbirds, including an 85-75 over the T-Birds in Cedar City last season. UVU's lone setback to the Thunderbirds was a 68-60 loss on Nov. 28, 2006 in Cedar City.

The Wolverines have dropped three straight dating back to a loss at Utah State on Nov. 24. UVU is 2-4 on the season with both of its victories coming at home. The game marks the third contest of a four-game homestand for UVU. Utah Valley dropped a 76-72 decision to Montana State on Tuesday night. Konner Frey scored a career-high 26 points and fell just short of his second double-double of the season with nine rebounds. The junior forward knocked down 8-of-16 shots from the field, including a pair of shots from long range. Frey also hit 8-of-11 shots from the free throw line.

Frey leads the team in both scoring and rebounding at 17.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. His 17.7 points a contest ranks him second in the WAC in scoring, while his 7.1 rebounds rank him fifth in the league. Jaden Jackson and Ivory Young also average double digits at 10.9 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.

Saturday night's game will tip-off at 7 p.m., and will be broadcast live on UVUtv. The game will also be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network and over the air on ESPN 960 AM radio.
