Utah Valley travels to play UMKC Thursday night

OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team travels to Kansas City, Missouri to take on Western Athletic Conference foe Missouri-Kansas City Thursday night at the Municipal Auditorium. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. MT.
 
Missouri-Kansas City holds an 11-17 overall record this season with a 6-5 WAC mark this year. The team has dropped three of its last four games, including a heartbreaking 64-62 decision at Bakersfield on Saturday night.  The Kangaroos have been impressive at home, compiling a 7-4 record, including a 4-1 mark at home in WAC play.
 
Sophomore guard Martez Harrison leads the 'Roos in scoring at 17.9 points a contest--the second best scoring average in the WAC. He also leads the team in steals per game (1.82), assists per game (3.89), free throw percentage (.736), three-point field goals per game (1.57), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.42) and minutes per game (31.46). He became the 10th UMKC player to reach the 1,000-point club, hitting the mark against Bakersfield on Saturday night.
 
"UMKC plays very well together," said Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker.
 
Utah Valley enters Thursday's matchup with a 10-16 overall record. The team is 4-7 in WAC play with wins Seattle U, Texas-Pan American and Chicago State. The Wolverines head out on the road where they own a 3-11 record.
 
UVU plays UMKC for the 11th time on Thursday night. The Wolverines hold a 6-4 all-time series lead over the Kangaroos. The two teams split their first-ever WAC series last season with each team winning on its home floor. UMKC won the first matchup of this season with a 66-59 victory in Orem on Jan. 31.
 
The Wolverines most recently defeated Texas-Pan American 72-49 at home on Saturday night. Marcel Davis led UVU with a team-high 20 points, connecting on 9-of-15 shots from the field with a pair of threes. Davis also tallied three assists and three rebounds in the win. Mitch Bruneel scored 15 points in the win over the Broncs. Donte Williams scored 12 and Zach Nelson helped with 11.
 
Bruneel leads the Wolverines in scoring at 12.6 points per contest and in rebounding at 6.2 per game. Nelson and Williams are also averaging double figures at 10.9 and 10.2 points per game, respectively.
 
Thursday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN 960 AM radio and WolverineGreen.com. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. MT.
