OREM, Utah—Zach Nelson scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Utah Valley University men's basketball team to a 74-69 win over Bakersfield in the team's regular season finale Saturday night at the UCCU Center.

The win came on Senior Night at UVU as seniors Mitch Bruneel, Brenden Evans and Chad Ross were honored in a ceremony prior to the game.

Tied 12-12 just six minutes into the game, Utah Valley went on a 14-0 run to take a 28-14 lead with 9:06 to play in the first half. The Wolverines took a 39-29 lead into the break.

Bakersfield went on a 12-0 run midway through the second half to cut the UVU lead to just two points, 57-55, with 8:16 to play. The Wolverines answered with a 9-2 run to take a 66-57 lead with four minutes to play. Utah Valley was then able to hold on to the lead for the 74-69 victory.
