OREM, Utah— Senior Jessican Duffin notched her first shutout of the year with senior
Jamie Brown and junior
Sheridan Fox supplying the scoring in Utah Valley University's 2-0 win over Central Arkansas in the home opener Sunday at Clyde Field.
The Wolverines (1-1-0) wasted no time getting on the board as sophomore Sarah Cipperly set up Brown for a 19 yard left footer over the Bears' keeper in the ninth minute to give the Wolverines a 1-0 advantage.
Fox secured the win just ten minutes later. Freshman
Taylor Kirk sent a free kick to the right of the box, where Libby brown attempted a header. Central Arkansas goalkeeper Anna Hughes just batted the ball out of goal territory, when Fox ran in and insured the goal, sealing UVU's 2-0 win.
"I think overall it was a good performance, we were able to see the team rebound, which was most important for us," head coach
Brent Anderson said. "Some of our attacking players were getting up there and creating a lot more chances for us than we had on Friday night. They did a very good job, they created more possession and we had more opportunities
The shutout marks senior goalkeeper
Jessica Duffin's first of the season with all three of her saves coming in the second half.

Utah Valley outshot UCA 12-10, including a 5-3 advantage on goal. Sophomore
Libby Weber led the Wolverines with three shots on the day.
The Wolverines continue their homestand against in-state foe Utah State on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m, and against University of Montana on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Clyde Field.
