OREM, Utah – Fresh off of a 2-1 outing at the WSU Cougar Challenge last weekend, the Utah Valley University volleyball team will conclude its season-opening 11-match road stretch at Utah State on Tuesday night at the Wayne Estes Center in Logan.

First serve for Tuesday's contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will feature both live video and live stats by visiting UtahStateAggies.com. The contest will mark the first of three in-state matches for UVU in 2015.

The Wolverines will enter Tuesday with a 4-6 season record after placing second at the Cougar Challenge in Pullman, Washington, last weekend. UVU recorded a pair of sweeps over Ball State and Morehead State at the Challenge before falling to the host Washington State Cougars in four sets in the tournament finale. UVU won the first seven sets on the weekend before dropping the final three to WSU.

Senior middle blocker Lauren Bakker and sophomore setter Sierra Starley were both named to the all-tournament team at the Cougar Challenge after Bakker averaged 3.10 kills per set on .519 hitting percentage and 1.38 blocks, and Starley put up 8.90 assists and 1.50 digs on the weekend. After the solid tournament, the WAC Preseason Player of the Year Bakker now leads the WAC in blocking with a 1.38 per set average and ranks fourth in hitting (.326).

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Utah State will enter Tuesday with a 2-8 record after going winless at the USC Classic in Los Angeles last weekend. USU has dropped five straight and holds its wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and Middle Tennessee State. The Aggies were picked to finish eighth in the Mountain West this season after going 13-16 overall and 9-9 in league play a year ago.

Rachel Gale and Kaylie Kamalu pace the Aggie offense with identical kill per set averages of 3.09.

Tuesday's contest will mark the 13th all-time meeting between the in-state foes and the series is tied at 6-6. UVU has won four of the five most recent meetings, including a pair in Logan.

UP NEXT FOR UVU
The Wolverines will return to Orem to welcome No. 9 BYU to town for their 2015 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 19. The matchup between the neighboring rivals is set to begin at 7 p.m. at UVU's PE Building.
