OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to CSU Bakersfield Friday night in the team's WAC opener at Clyde Field, snapping the Wolverines' 14-match home unbeaten streak.
Â
The setback marks Utah Valley's first loss at Clyde Field since falling to Seattle U on Nov. 1, 2014. It also marks just the third loss at Clyde Field over the past three seasons for UVU. With the loss, UVU falls to 6-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in league play. CSU Bakersfield improves to 5-7-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in WAC play.

"It's a game of opportunities and I thought we had some good opportunities but we didn't capitalize on them," said Utah Valley head coach
Brent Anderson. "One of our points for the game is to complete the play and we failed to do that tonight. I thought we played good soccer but hats off to Bakersfield. They created some chances and took care of one of them and put it in the back of the net. We can't dwell too much on it. We've got a big game on Sunday to get ready for. We'll tighten up a few little things and move forward."
Â
CSUB's Jordin Bartel headed the game winner into the back of the net in the 48th minute after receiving a cross into the box from Aminah Settles. The score marks Bartel's fourth goal of the season.

Taylor Kirk led UVU with five shots, including two on goal.
