Utah Valley women's basketball will play the second of two contests over the span of two days against host Cal Poly to close out its first out-of-state trip at the Cal Poly Share SLO Holiday Tournament at the Robert A. Motts Athletic Center.
The Wolverines dropped their first game at the Cal Poly Tournament against Central Michigan, 62-71, on Friday to fall to 0-5 on the season. Utah Valley's
Sam Lubcke scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while also grabbing seven rebounds and three steals against the Chippewas. Lubcke's 20 points was the highest-scoring effort by any UVU player this season.
Utah Valley's starting backcourt consisting of
Taylor Gordon,
Mariah Seals and
Britta Hall entered the weekend
averaging a combined 35.3 points per game to lead all starting backcourts in the WAC. Gordon and Seals each
rank among the top 10 in the WAC in scoring, as Gordon ranks eighth with a team-best 13.4 points per game and
Seals (12.4 ppg) is 10th. Following behind Gordon and Seals among the WAC's top-20 scorers, Hall (9.0 ppg) sits
at 19th.

In addition to her scoring prowess,
Taylor Gordon disrupts opposing offenses with a WAC-leading 18 steals and 3.6 steals per game. The junior standout has racked up at least three steals in each of the Wolverines' contests this season, including a career-high tying five steals in a setback to Weber State in the second game of the year and three more Friday against Central Michigan to open the Cal Poly Share SLO Holiday Tournament.

Utah Valley and Cal Poly will meet on the hardwood for the first time in their neutral-site contest of the Cal Poly/Share SLO Holiday Tournament in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Wolverines enter the game looking for their first win of the season, while they also seek to end their five-game losing streak Saturday against the Mustangs.
About the Mustangs
Cal Poly (2-3) is coming off a 73-46 win over North Dakota State to tip-off the two-day Cal Poly Share SLO Holiday Tournament. The Mustangs were led by a career-high matching 29 points from senior forward Hannah Gilbert in the victory over the Bison. Gilbert, who started the weekend ranked 20th in the nation in made field goals, shot 14-of-16 on Friday morning in Cal Poly's second highest point output of the season.
Gone for the Holiday — Cal Poly/Share SLO Tournament
Utah Valley will play it's first out-of-state games of the year in the Cal Poly/Share SLO Holiday Tournament hosted by Cal Poly Nov. 25-26. The Wolverines open with a Black Friday matchup with Central Michigan on Nov. 25, followed by Saturday's afternoon contest versus Cal Poly on Nov. 26. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. MST both days.
