OREM, Utah – Fans can get a prevue of the 24th-ranked Utah Valley University men's soccer team on Saturday in the annual Green and White scrimmage. Admission is free with the match slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Clyde Field.
Â
"To those on the outside, the Green & White is just a scrimmage, but it's not," said head coach
Greg Maas. "This is the player's final match opportunity to demonstrate their individual and collective readiness in preparation for next week's opener against Washington. The match will be spirited, hard-fought, and a first glimpse for our 12th Wolverines at Clyde Field."
Â
Utah Valley came in a No. 24 in the country in Top Drawer Soccer's preseason poll, which was released earlier Friday, and at No. 28 in the College Soccer News top 30. UVU is just outside the Top 25 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll.
Â
UVU returns nearly its entire roster from last season's NCAA Tournament team that won 14 matches, including preseason All-WAC selections
Alex Neff,
Skyler Milne and
Paul Hoffmeister. The Wolverines were picked to finish second, behind preseason No. 9 Seattle University.
Â
The regular season opener against No. 20 Washington will be Friday, Aug. 26 at Clyde Field at 7:30 p.m. and part of a soccer doubleheader with the UVU women hosting Southern Utah at 5 p.m.
