COLORADO SPRINGS—Colorado College put a ball in the back of the net in the 83rd minute to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 win over the Utah Valley University women's soccer team Sunday at Washburn Field.
Â
With the loss, Utah Valley falls to 4-3-0 overall on the season. Colorado College improves to 3-3-0 with the win.
"I was impressed with the focus of the players today," said Utah Valley head coach
Brent Anderson. "We stepped out on the pitch with a different mentality than we did against Wyoming and I think it lead to more positive play early on. As the game wore on you could see a bit of fatigue setting in from that double overtime match and we didn't quite have the legs to keep the attack going in the dying minutes of the match. Looking forward to getting home and cleaning up a few things as we get ready to take on Utah."
Â
After playing to a 0-0 tied through 82 minutes of play, Colorado College's Clara Richter chipped a ball over a pair of UVU defenders and into the net for the game's only goal.
Â
Colorado College out-shot UVU 13-9 on the day, including a 4-1 advantage on net.
Libby Weber led Utah Valley with three shots, including UVU's lone shot on goal.
Breanna DeWaal had two shots, while
Tori Smith,
Sara Callister,
Sheridan Fox and
Sarah Cipperley each tallied one.
Â
Breanna Nielsen started and played the first half in the box. The freshman keeper tallied two saves in 45 minutes of action.
Sarah Davis played the second half and registered one save.
